Sean Malone, longtime bass player for Cynic has passed away at age 50.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
His bandmate, Paul Masvidal announced the terrible news just a few hours ago via hos instagram account.
Here is the full statement:
"I learnt today that Sean Malone has died. I am numb and grief stricken. He had a brilliant mind, a gracious heart and was one of the greatest musicians I've ever encountered.
I know that this is a shocking loss for so many fans whose lives he touched with his artistry, as it is for me. Please keep him in your thoughts and listen to his playing to celebrate his life."
Malone was considered as the original line-up bass player of Cynic, as he figures on all three full lengh albums that the band has released.
Although he left the band a few times, he came back to album "Focus" in 1993, then released the album "Traced In Air" in 2008, before leaving the band again.
He returned to Cynic again in 2012, this time for longer, and the band released the album " Kindly Bent To Free Us" in 2014.
It has been a particularly difficult year for the band as their drummer Sean Reinert, also passed away in January, at age 48.
In these time of grief, and on behalf of Metal Mad TV, we would like to send our deepest condolences to Sean' family and friends, aswell as his bandmates.
R.I.P Sean Malone.
